"Work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". That adage is certainly true. People (and characters) aren't nearly as interesting if we can't see his or her "other" side. And so, I'm showing you mine!
When I'm not creating stories at my computer, I love to sew, quilt, knit, travel, and walk our dog (these are in no specific order). I hope you enjoy the following pictures and the stories that go with them.....
I’ve recently joined a Quilt Guild – Central Kansas Threadbenders – and have been amazed by these talented ladies’ skill and creativity. I enjoy learning a new technique or pattern each month and my very favorite part of our meetings is “Show and Tell” time. The quilts are absolutely beautiful and I’m always inspired to run home to my own sewing machine.
One of our projects has been participating in the Quilt of Valor program which gives handmade quilts to wounded military service-members and veterans who’ve been touched by war. When my son had been in Boy Scouts, his troop had adopted several servicemen and sent them care packages. After my son received his Eagle Scout and went to college, I began looking for another project to show my appreciation to the men and women who sacrifice so much for our country. As soon as I heard about the QOV program, I was hooked! I began making my own Quilt of Valor and recently finished it.

If anyone is interested in this worthwhile project be sure to visit the official Quilt of Valor website at www.qovf.org . States also have their own chapters, so look for your state’s site on the web as well. Stay tuned for recent news about my quilts of valor at my Jessica Matthews Author page on Facebook!

Scout is a Cairn terrier who came to live with his grandma and grandpa (my husband and I) when our daughter couldn't keep him because of her college schedule. He's the smartest thing - we've had to spell certain words around him because he knows what they mean - like "walk", "go", and "nap". And when he's ready for bed at night, if we tell him to "find your bunny", he'll hunt him down so he can sleep with his very own "lovey".
