I grew up on a farm in western Kansas where my favorite pastime was reading. According to my family, I always had my nose in a book, which wasn't surprising because my favorite place to spend the summer was at the Hays Public Library.  Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys gave the adventure this country girl craved.  Laura Ingalls Wilder and her Little House on the Prairie series fostered my emotional side.  Cherry Ames and Sue Barton (and later Betty Neels) showed me the excitement of the medical profession.  

My interest in medicine took me into the exciting field of medical technology (aka clinical laboratory science).  After I met my husband, I moved to the central part of the state where I worked at various levels in this profession.  Eventually, I became a Laboratory Supervisor where my duties included everything from working on the bench (lab speak for actually performing patient test procedures) to overseeing our compliance to various agencies' regulations to writing department policies and procedures.  Then, after my youngest son left home for college, I decided to pursue another dream - to become a full-time fiction writer!

So grab a book, settle in your armchair, and step into the fantasy where medicine and love make the perfect prescription!
