I grew up on a farm in western Kansas where reading was my favorite pastime. My sister always claimed it was so I could wiggle out of my chores and she was probably right! Although I told my eighth grade teacher that I wanted to write a story some day, science textbooks and research papers replaced the romances, mysteries, and adventure stories as I became a medical technologist (now we’re called clinical laboratory scientists). However, even after I’d established my career, my love for microscopes and test tubes didn’t diminish my love of reading and storytelling. When I finally decided that I, too, wanted to write a book, I followed the advice I’d been given to “write what you know”. So, I wrote several medical-based stories that eventually caught the eye of an editor at Harlequin Mills & Boon in London and I’ve been writing ever since!
My family has always been supportive of my “second” career. Our two children are currently pursuing their studies and career dreams in other cities and we enjoy visiting them as often as possible. When I’m not writing or walking our family dog, Scout, I’m puttering in my garden, tackling various sewing projects, watching the orioles that drop by in the spring, and spending time with family and friends.
